Current News

March 1, 2026

We will be monitoring Pacific Power in Oregon while they replace an existing power pole located on the west end of the parking lot. This new pole will be constructed of steel rather than wood, for fire safety. Their plan originally called for two more poles to be added along the west and east ends of the property.

However, this will create an eyesore and will disrupt current plans for the two areas. The west end of the property has been selected as the location for a sports court to be positioned under the existing powerlines. The east side is where a proposed orchard is to be located in the future. In addition, the installation of these poles would require the removal of several large trees that form a privacy barrier along the front of the property.

We will be objecting to any effort to place any additional power poles in these areas. We are confident that an alternative plan can be arranged allowing the existing power pole that has been in place for decades to continue as the only necessary pole for the carrying of power over and through the Riverpass Retreat.

Current Projects

Guest Parking -

Presently, approximately 75% complete, there are a several small trees that need to be removed, along with 1 large oak. The plan is for at least 10 cars to be able to park without any being blocked in. The addition of a second driveway will allow vehicles to pull in and out without having to turn around.

Irrigation Canal -

The discovery of an existing yet defunct irrigation canal has prompted us to clear it out and put it back into service for our orchard site. The natural rock walled sides and clay bottom are not completely watertight, allowing the canal to slowly water the surrounding forest. We are working on clearing it from the southeast end of the property and from the northwest, eventually joining the two somewhere in the center. When finished it will average 6 feet wide and 1 foot deep and will be over 700 feet long.

Main Entrance -

After clearing the trees and vegetation from the area, the future shape is becoming visible. We are currently in the process of leveling this spot, requiring a cut of 4 feet into the hillside, all done by hand.  Access from the parking lot will be via ramp spanning the canal to a large flat 'social circle' which will be the hub of the property. A large firepit and outdoor kitchen will create a hangout spot for Bible studies, and other gatherings. The Riverpass Loop already wraps around the northside of this circle to invite guests to explore other areas.
